Job Description

The personal assistant position we are currently offering is based out of our Roscoe location. As the Assistant for Kent and Gwen Meyer, you will look work very closely with them and be involved in most key areas of projects they’re working on and also assisting in their personal lives so they can serve their business well and maintain a balance in their private lives. The utmost confidentiality is required and openness in communication between the Meyer’s and the assistant. It is a position of completing the pieces behind them to help everything flow well. The assistant has the freedom within the framework of 30 to 35 hours a week to plan and execute the duties listed below. This allows assistant to use their time as efficiently and as they see needed to execute the various projects.
 

     Responsibilities and Duties:

    • Assist in various meetings, events, programs, seminars, and projects involving the three
      facilities
    • Inform Kent and Gwen of any information that can hinder the best interest of the programs
      that Meyer’s, the interest of Meyer’s organization, and Kent and Gwen’s best interest.
      Extreme confidentiality is due to the nature of this position is required.
    • Greet all customers and dogs with a smile and a warm welcome.
    • Inform customers of the benefits of our services and retail products we carry
    • Answer phone calls and take appointments when needed.
    • Support the Canine Colony facility in sales, organizing inventory, displaying, for
      purchasing, check in/check out process, laundry, cleaning, on-going communication of team
      players.
    • Be a proactive assistant to Meyer’s and their staff, to include gift wrapping, birthday
      baskets, etc
    • MEYER SUPPORT

    • Maintain extreme confidentiality, integrity, and loyalty
    • Complete all personal requirements weekly which would include: all personal banking and bill
      paying, scheduling of appointments, maintaining on their schedule and travel arrangements,
      dog shows & when using trailer ready it by cleaning & stocking with all appropriate
      inventory
    • Communicate with Gwen & Kent on events, meetings and appointments keeping their calendar up
      to date
    • Perform any E-bay that may need to be done
    • Monitor and follow up on e-mails for the Meyer’s
    • Assist with their son’s needs when needed
    • Make all of the family’s appointments as needed
    • Run personal errands for the Meyer’s, prescriptions, shopping, dry cleaning, etc.
    • EVENTS PLANNING

      Responsible for coordinating the following events, budgeting & payments, measuring the success of events, and making changes to improve the events.

      COMPANY FUN EVENTS

    • Monthly Birthday Celebrations
    • Summer Picnic
    • Christmas Party
    • Thanksgiving Potluck
    • Meyer Special Events (i.e. team movies, ice skating, bowling, etc.)
    • COMMUNITY EVENTS

    • List all outside events that Meyer’s will attend for the year
    • Order materials, foods, items needed for the events and organize what to take to these
      events
    • GENERAL BUSINESS AND MARKETING

    • Shadow on appointments, gift shows/conventions, events and meetings as needed
    • Participate in the decision making of all purchases that will enhance Meyer’s show rooms
    • Attend outside meetings such as council and board meetings when they cannot attend
    • WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PERSONAL / PROFESSIONAL GROWTH

    • Constantly grow as a professional through education, reading, interaction with others, and
      research
    • Share past career situations that may fit into the Meyer vision…(ex: sales ideas &
      tips)
    • Attend and participate in leadership meetings and share the Meyer vision through
      communication with teams
    • Contribute an encouraging, upbeat attitude, and be a “go-to” person

    Desired Experience and Education

    • High school diploma
    • Associate’s or Bachelor’s in business or related field desired.
    • Excellent work history and references with a record of career progression

    Compensation

    • Pay and benefits negotiable, depending on experience.
