Pet care is the core of our operations at Meyer’s but there are a lot of moving parts to make all things happen at the farm and our other 2 locations. You are joining a team that strives to take customers all the way to “Wow!”, doing work that matters. Meyer’s has a strong sense of community with many staff being part of the team for over 10 years building, innovating, and being part of something bigger than themselves. If you haven’t noticed we like to joke and have some fun along the way too. Little or no absenteeism is extremely important. We are looking for a Maintenance Lead to join our team at Meyer’s Tails Up Farm, a pet care facility in Belvidere, IL. This position is full-time, year-round and will include doing maintenance at all three of our locations with Belvidere being your home base. Day-to-day, you will be a ‘jack of all trades,’ responsible for preventative maintenance and repair work. It’s true, no two days will be the same. We have a lot of fun and we love the customers and pets we get the privilege to work with. Some of the benefits we offer are for health insurance, retirement, and paid time off to name a few. Job Description

Position includes:
Minor repairs
Special projects which include building needs
Light to moderate vehicle fleet maintenance
Small electric
Grounds work
Small engine maintenance
Doing what is necessary to ensure each guest (which for us is a pet) is comfortable, safe and content.

Required Skills

  • Passionate about working with a team
  • Have a desire for doing work that matters
  • Detail oriented, and ORGANIZED, love dogs and cats, and good communicator.
  • Ability to problem-solve and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong work ethic with a “make-it-happen” attitude.
  • Be able to combine your sense of function and aesthetics to assess, triage, and complete required maintenance tasks in a timely manner.
  • Genuine liking for people with a desire to make the customer experience and the employee work experience pleasant, welcoming, and memorable.

Desired Experience and Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years experience with maintenance, carpentry, automotive, plumbing, and HVAC
  • Previous experience in a pet facility or pet care environment a plus
  • Excellent work history and references
  • Has lead others in a working capacity


  • Pay depends on experience. Performance based bonus upon approval.
