Doggie Daycare Coordinator

This position we are currently hiring for at our growing company is in Deforest on Madison’s east side where we were offer several different services for people and their pets. We have a full time opportunity (35-40 hours per week) for the Daycare Coordinator position with a great support staff and leadership team that you would be joining. At Meyer’s Animal House we have a two phase hiring process. Only those who complete both phases will be considered for employment.

Reporting Relationship

This position reports to the Facility Director and Daycare Director.

Desired Experience and Education

  • 2 year degree or higher
  • Minimum 3 years experience in dog behavior or a doggy daycare setting
  • Excellent work history and reference

Job Duties & Responsibilities

As the Doggy Daycare Coordinator you are involved with all of the day-to-day activities that happen at Meyer’s.  Our purpose with Doggy Daycare is to help each dog become a self-confident, well-rounded member of the family and the larger human and dog community, too. We achieve this aim through continuous training in:

  • human-to-dog relationships, which includes educating owners on how to help their dogs become enjoyable family members; and
  • dog-to-dog relationships with appropriate play in and outside daycare.

Experience is necessary, however a genuine love for animals is a must.  We are also looking for these traits:

  •  You Love Details – As a team, we want to make sure each dogs daycare needs are met. From individual services to group play, to clear communication with the parents and your team, it is all in the details to make our daycare program the best it can be.

 NEED TO (the must have’s):

  • Ability to complete tasks independently or with a team without direct supervision
  • Solid communication and interpersonal skills
  • Having the ability to read an animal and it’s behavior, know when animal is stressed, agitated, aggressive, friendly, submissive etc. Never put oneself or others at risk.
  • Computer literate with ability to use in-house software, e-mail, Word and Excel spreadsheets in a professional setting
  • Ability to be alert and proactive to manage a pack during a shift
  • Communicating and connecting company mission and values to daily operations
  • Develop a team of daycare leaders
  • Create and maintain all channels of communication with our daycare parents and our internal team
  • Assist our electronic media team with obtaining pictures and content

Other Skills & Abilities

  • Be able to lift 40 lbs.
  • Handle dogs of all sizes without being afraid of them and without allowing them to control you
  • Have a calm and assertive pack leader who understands and is willing to learn dog body language
  • Able to spend their shift standing and walking outside in all types of weather while closely monitoring and interacting with our canine guests
  • Be in good physical condition, able to squat, stoop, bend, and lift
  • Ability to be flexible to work morning and/or afternoon shifts
  • Must be willing to maintain the highest standards in cleanliness

Compensation

  • Pay and benefits negotiable, depending on experience. Performance based bonus upon approval.
