Dakota is part of our family and we love her very much. We
know the Staff at Meyer’s Animal House will take care of her like we
do – like family. I never worry about her well-being or care when she is
at Meyer’s! Dakota is quite comfortable there – she makes herself ‘at
home’ as soon as we walk in the door – she likes to go to Meyer’s to see her
friends!

I recommend Meyer’s Animal House with great confidence – and if
Dakota could speak human words, she would too! (instead she gives a
hearty ‘woof’)

Dogs on the Square 2012

We’re a Proud Sponsor of Dogs on the Square 2012!

You’ve heard of Art Fair on the Square and Concerts on the Square, but this is the 2nd annual Dogs on the Square! The event to benefit the Madison Police Department’s Canine Unit, who keeps our community safe, will be held on Sunday, May 20, from Noon to 3 pm. The general public and all of their tail-wagging, four-legged friends are invited. Advance registration is $10 per dog or $15 per dog the day of the event. Humans are free. Each booth there will have a challenge and come by ours to have you and your dog’s picture taken in our PICTURE PERFECT Photo Booth!

2012 Kids N K9′s Camp

It’s time for camp…and kick off the summer with Kid’s N’ K-9′s Camp the COOLEST week in the LAND!!! June 18th – June 22nd at Meyer’s Tails Up Farm in Belvidere. Again Meyer’s is offering this unique camp for young dog enthusiasts in the area.

For one week every summer, Meyers Tails Up Farm offers a day camp for kids entering 6th, 7th and 8th grades, from 9 AM to 3:30 PM. Participants learn about caring for and training a dog, and the program includes demonstrations, presentations by experts, art projects-and a lot of fun, too!

Cost of week long camp is $235 and includes a lot of extras. Camp is limited to 14 campers. We supply the dogs.

The POOL… IS OPEN! Our Canine Aquatics program is an optimum, low-impact form of exercise designed to keep your dog in top physical condition or return your dog to full health and activity after injury or surgery. It is great exercise and it is available now for your dog’s next stay with us or for a private session with one of our swim coaches. Many dogs learn basic voice commands: “sit”, “stay”, “come”, or “down” but dogs who attend Meyer’s Doggie Day Care know much, much more! When Murphy, our two-year-old Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier hears the words “school today” or “do you want to see your friends?”, he leaps in circles and will not leave our side until we get the car to take him to daycare! He knows directions to! When we cross US Route 20 going south on Irene Road, he knows we are close, and as we cross the tollway, our usually very calm car-riding dog cannot contain himself with excitement!

We have been very pleased with the 13 years we have use Meyer’s. Bailey, our first Wheaten, was also an attendee at Doggie Day Care. He enjoyed being groomed at the spa and looked forward to his stay at the kennel. Murphy does too!! They have different personalities, but the tie-that-binds is their absolute love of Meyer’s!

We appreciate the professional grooming that is available, and the impeccable kennels with a friendly and knowledgeable staff who love our dogs as well as they were their own. We appreciate the other family touches as well: the birthday parties, the daily did-bits notes telling us about the daily day-care activities and the photographs!

Tails Up Farm is welcoming to all and is the place where the dogs are SO happy to arrive and sad, yet so worn out from all their play, to leave!

Our twelve year old Lab, Buckshot, had surgery in Buffalo Grove this spring for herniated discs in his back. During the recovery process he had limited use of his rear hips and legs. We went back and forth every week for him to have hydroswim therapy, accupuncture and cold laser treatments. We were so grateful to learn that Meyer’s had swim therapy available. Buckshot has graduated from a life jacket and leash swim to fetching the toys on his own. His legs have gotten stronger and he can now manuever throught the house and around our house on his own. Buckshot has been a regular visitor of Meyer’s his entire life. He had obedience training, enjoyed the agility classes and he is a “suite” dog who takes advantage of the luxurious accomodations. It is truly a blessing that Meyer’s has been able to play an important role in his senior years as well. Thank you to all!
